Importing the Main Page

I notice that you imported the Main Page here, Sərlohə, in amongst all the other main-namespace pages (in alphabetical order), rather than waiting to do it last (i.e., as a signal that the wiki is open for editing). I assume this was just an oversight on your part. You usually do it last (or close to last, anyway), right? (The reason I ask is that I typically take the importing of the Main Page as a sign that I can announce the opening of the wiki at m:Wikimedia News. Historically, I have been using the announcements at incubator:Incubator:Site creation log for that purpose, but I have found that it can take days or even weeks sometimes for that page to be updated, saying that the importing is complete. And I figure anything that actually takes that long to get imported after the new Main Page exists can't be that important. [grin]) - dcljr (no-pegət) 18:19, 31 Avgust 2023 (UTC)

@Dcljr: It depends a bit on what method I use to import, actually. If I use wiki-importer, it will ignore already-existing pages (that's usually only the main page), but if I do it the "traditional" way (where I manually copy all titles from Special:PrefixIndex into Special:Export), the main page will be imported wherever it is alphabetically. For tlywiki, it was a mix of both methods; I tried wiki-importer first, but it failed somewhere on the letter A, so I did the rest the traditional way.

However, even if the main page has been imported, the newest revision will be the one shown, and the newest revision will usually be the one by User:Maintenance script from when the wiki was created. And in that case, I have to "revert" Maintenance script's edits, back to the version from the actually-imported page.

In this case I didn't do it last, and I don't really have any good explanation why. I think I just noticed it was imported, so I fixed it straight away instead of waiting. But the rest of the import didn't take too long anyways, so it should be all good. :-) Jon Harald Søby (no-pegət) 22:01, 31 Avgust 2023 (UTC)

Streamlining template calls

After importing, a lot of the template calls here have changed from {{Wp/tly/Template:…}} to {{Template:…}}. Could your bot turn these into {{…}} (removing the unnecessary "Template:" prefix, like this)? This is something to keep in mind in the future, when other wikis get their content imported. I haven't checked other recently imported wikis to see if this same issue exists on them. - dcljr (no-pegət) 19:02, 31 Avgust 2023 (UTC)
